Gary got his first taste of advertising and marketing when he landed a job in the graphic design department at Smith Brothers Roping Supply Company in Denton, Texas. After learning the ropes in direct mail, and riding herd on international catalog production and distribution, Gary eventually moved on to JWG Associates a large Boston-based advertising agency. The Dallas branch served national clients such as the Ford Motor Company, Nations Bank, and St. Paul’s Hospital. At JWG, Gary finessed and expanded his marketing skills, becoming an expert in market research, corporate identity and branding, and spearheading the development and application of a wide variety of tactical and practical strategies. In the process of working with all types of businesses, from small companies to corporate giants, Gary learned that great marketing and advertising is a direct result of an accurate assessment of a client’s situation, and a sensible plan that meets the need.
Then, in 1996, with a solid knowledge of marketing tools, means and methods, Gary relocated to Issaquah – bought a few horses, and started his own agency. |
Founded on the belief that a partnership-focused agency offering clear vision, hard work, and practical solutions would be an important asset to businesses, OnMerit Marketing – has grown from a small design shop to a full service marketing agency. Today OnMerit Marketing serves a formidable list of regional and national clients who’ve become long-term partners in growth.
The ever practical cowboy, Gary suggests that design and words alone are never a means to an end. It’s only when a company develops a plan, and presents a professional, relevant image and a compelling, well-crafted message, that goals are met. Nothing about advertising and marketing is esoteric for Gary. For him, it’s a common sense, team-focused effort that he loves doing, and takes on with the passion, commitment and confidence of a seasoned expert. Call it marketing – cowboy style. |
